Nailing it with Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center

A little history

Ground broke for what would one day be Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center (formerly NorthePointe Hotel and Conference Center) in November 1960. Once called Green Meadows Country Inn and the John E. Fisher Nationwide Training Center, it wasn’t until September 2012 that the campus was transformed to NorthPointe Hotel and Conference Center and ultimately rebranded as Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center in December 2014.

The challenge

When Columbus Hospitality Management assumed management of the campus in 2011, it was clear that it was a hidden gem that needed a fresh look, visibility and awareness. As always, the top priority was building the very best team of dedicated hospitality professionals. Next steps were a renovation and refurbishment to specific areas across the campus, and creating a marketing strategy to cement our place as a unique hospitality venue and distinct, sophisticated events campus.

Our President, Charles Lagarce, had a vision to create an upscale retreat space where guests could gather, collaborate and celebrate. To that end, we completed a new entrance that winds guests through Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center’s scenic campus, completed a full guestroom renovation, transformed an underutilized gym into a ballroom, created a pre-function event space attached to a contemporary, comfortable outdoor patio, and updated the pub for guests to gather and celebrate in a charming, cozy environment.

The payoff

Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center has seen an increase of 25% year over year in total revenues and we have been proud to see our wedding celebrations grow from 26 to 75+ annually. Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center is also home to all Nationwide Training organization’s leaders, including the Nationwide Claims Training Organization and the Nationwide Sales Academy. Our strategic efforts focus on the day meeting market, which has allowed us to secure large meetings for local companies, agencies, and associations; as well as fun, formal galas and social events. We are pleased with such great results that we will be undergoing an expansion in 2014.

Whether overseeing groups of 1,200 in our conference center or personally greeting guests, Sue has been upping the ante as Director of Sales. Like so many others who have joined our team, Sue will be the first to tell you she’s found her home with Columbus Hospitality Management.
